Cold where there should be warmth…

There is cold where there should be warmth. A creeping sort of cold that starts in the center and seeps out through each intertwined fiber.

And with the cold creeps an uncertainty: Will the thaw come? Will there again be sunshine and heat and sap and broad green leaves and moist dark earth.

There is doubt.

But the ice does melt. The warmth returns. The thaw does come. And when it comes what it brings will be lush and soft.

But it will be new.

Last year’s leaves are in the ground, feeding this years buds.

Nothing remains the same but the cycle.

May the equinox bring you light and warmth and peace. And may it bring confidence in the cycles of nature, and certainty that there is balance even in transition from one state to another.

And may it bring you something new.

  1. I feel the same way you do. Just when you think the cold will never stop chilling your bones, you open the door and instead of rabbit tracks in the snow, you see the first bud of the forsythia and are reminded that everything does change with time.
